Are you an INTP (the Thinker / Logician / Architect)?

a person sitting at a desk lost in thought with a stack of books nearby and a full chalkboard behind them

Your natural gifts make you:

  • Analytical
  • Innovative
  • Curious
  • Independent
  • Open-Minded

Common challenges:

  • Perfectionism, procrastination
  • Overthinking, stuck in head, need to analyze from every angle
  • Struggling with routine tasks and administrative details
  • Prioritizing logic over feelings
  • Discomfort in social situations

Your mind is an endless puzzle. What if you had someone just as curious to help you solve it—and help you turn your insights into real-world impact?

  • You're an unmatched rational thinker. You're endlessly knowledgeable, and people can rely on you to thoroughly examine a problem and provide the most logically-sound analysis.
  • At the same time, you probably have more of a soft side than people imagine. You're likely sensitive and humble inside, and you really care about doing the right thing and finding the right answer that will make a difference.
  • You can struggle with social cues, office politics, and other subtleties of social relationships. You might get frustrated when people mess with each other or subtly imply things instead of just saying what they mean and explaining themselves.
  • It's important to you to be correct, and you can sometimes get too caught up in proving that you're right. It's especially annoying when people question your logic if they don't have a valid counter-argument.
  • You can struggle with knowing when to rely on sources you trust versus doing your own research to make sure you've explored all the possible perspectives. You might also find yourself torn between following tradition or best practices versus innovating and trying brand new ideas.

Still not sure this is you? Here are some tips to confirm your personality type.

INTP Tip #1:

You're typically so focused on your big ideas that you easily lose track of (or deprioritize) the small-but-important things.

Make a list of everything you've been procrastinating on.

Pick one thing that seems doable (it's ok if it's not the #1 thing), and just do it without overthinking.

Try setting a timer so you do whatever feels possible in just 30 minutes (or even 10 minutes).

INTP Tip #2:

To mature your Ne function, practice taking in data from new sources (for example, people who are quite different from you).

Try to be curious about dissenting views. Ask for early feedback on your work (rather than waiting till it's "perfect").

Critical feedback is valuable data for improving your mental models—not a judgment about your intelligence.

Something might seem 100% logical to you. But, that's based on your own brain wiring, life experiences, and personal biases. It's impossible for you—or anyone—to be flawlessly rational & objective all the time.

You're not missing intelligence. You're missing a bridge between theoretical understanding and lived experience.

You’ve read widely, thought carefully, and spent years refining internal models of how things work—your mind included.

That’s not where things tend to break.

What’s usually missing isn’t intellectual rigor or analytical clarity. It's translating insight into shifts in internal patterns, day-to-day decision-making, and how it actually feels to be inside your own head.

INTPs often don’t need better explanations. You already have those. What helps is support in applying what you understand—gently, precisely, and in a way that doesn’t violate your need for autonomy or coherence.

That’s what my coaching is designed for.

Most INTPs don’t struggle because they’re confused. They struggle because insight alone doesn’t reliably change how the system runs. Careful application does—and that process is much easier with the right kind of guide.

INTPs I work with tend to struggle with three core challenges:

If those sound painfully familiar, you’re not broken. They're predictable patterns I see in INTPs I work with every day.

I'm a Transformation Coach & Existential Counselor who specializes in NTPs like us

I’ve coached hundreds of people across 6 continents—from Fortune 500 leaders, startup founders, and influencers with millions of followers, to creatives, deep thinkers, and people who felt completely stuck and unsure what to do next.

I also regularly work with people who hold a variety of identities: LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, neurodivergent, atheist, various relationship orientations (ENM, poly, RA, etc.).

(I'll share more about me and my own journey further down the page.)

" I love the feeling of calm I experience now. I don’t second guess myself. I realize so clearly that I was irrationally confident before I started working with Michael, and I now feel a deeper sense of confidence that’s more open-minded and curious.

I think a good video game analogy for how I’ve progressed is that I feel like I’m playing my life in first-person point-of-view mode now vs. third person.
It’s hard to overstate how much happier I am. "

I'm Michael, a coach who helps INTPs transform

Michael looking calmly and confidently at the viewer with a slight smile

I spent most of my 20's and early 30's waiting for my "real life" to start.

I felt like I was treading water—I had endless ideas, and I knew I was capable of a lot. But I kept getting bored and moving on to the next possibility instead of actually finishing anything and making the impact I wanted to make on the world.

I had been completely stuck in my head and out of touch with my feelings and needs. I knew that I hated surface-level conversations, but I didn't understand how to create something different. So, I ended up just judging other people as shallow or simple-minded, and I felt disconnected and lonely.

I finally couldn't take it anymore, so I devoted three years to pushing myself outside my comfort zone to transform my life. I learned a lot about creating consistent motivation, making decisions, and leading a life I was excited about.

I created my life purpose, made some dramatic changes to myself and my lifestyle, and began following through on the ideas I was most excited about. Through all that, I finally began to understand what self-love and authentic aliveness feel like.

I'd like to help you feel that too.

I've been trusted by people at:
Google Intel Nike Amazon Apple

What do the top people in every field have in common?

I've worked with Fortune 500 leaders, an Academy Award-winning director, a Mount Everest record holder, and some of the most famous video game designers in the industry.

And I'd like to share a secret with you:

The most successful people get help when they're struggling.

They might look perfect on the outside, but I've seen firsthand that they're grappling with their own challenges—from self-doubt and impostor syndrome to depression and anxiety.

They still hit barriers that they have trouble getting past on their own. And top performers know that they need to put the oxygen mask on themselves first before they're able to most effectively help others.

Just like star athletes benefit from coaching, the top people in every field hire experts to help them improve.

I'd like to help you too.

Our types are a natural fit

I'm an ENTP, so I have your same cognitive functions but in a different order.

In other words, I get people like you, but I'm also different enough to provide a different way of seeing things (e.g., ENTP's are naturally more skilled than INTP's in the social realm, but we still approach relationships with a very logical mindset).

I struggled for years with different coaches and therapists. And I can honestly tell you that the one coach who made by far the biggest impact on my life was a fellow NTP.

She spoke my language, saw me in a way that few others ever had in my life, and challenged me to shift beliefs that had held me back for a decade.

It was like a set of dominoes—those coaching sessions eventually set into motion dramatic shifts in virtually every aspect of my life.

I'd like to earn your trust, as I have with these INTPs:

Michael sitting on steps

I’m getting stuck in overthinking so much less often.

It’s like my gut instinct is coming to me now with a whole army instead of just a few horsemen.

—Startup Co-Founder

This experience has been life-changing. Michael is very helpful, respectful, and an interesting person that I look forward to seeing every time.

—Information Systems Officer for a government organization

This session gave me a perspective I've never had on my need to always have to prove myself.

I can see a path forward now where this becomes even easier over time, and I can keep growing instead of trying to fight against this like I have been.

—Technology Consultant

I found Michael through their personality test, which I consider the best-in-class free resource available online. I'm a coach as well, and I refer my own clients to Michael's test.

As an ENTP themselves, Michael deeply understands and relates to *NTPs. I'd long felt my brain "worked differently" from most other people's, and Michael helped me see how my personality type influences how I experience the world and events in my life.

At the same time, Michael makes clear that one's type is only part of the story--a starting point for understanding. "Because I'm an INTP" isn't the answer to everything.

Michael's coaching is skillful and supportive across a wide variety of topics and modalities. We worked through emotional baggage from my childhood, health issues, building new businesses, and mindfulness practices, just to name a few. Across all of these areas of work, I found Michael to be kind, empathetic, and direct.

They will hold space for you when you feel overwhelmed by emotion. At the same time, they will call you out on your stuff when that's what you need to hear.

In sum, I strongly recommend that *NTP types consider Michael for coaching. Working with them helped me understand myself better, work through thorny issues to get unstuck, and show up as a better coach for my own clients.

—Startup CEO, PhD, Coach

I love the feeling of calm I experience now.

My relationship with my wife has improved a lot, and everyone in my life has noticed a big change in me.

I’m still the same personality type, but it’s funny to think how subtle changes have shifted so much of how I feel every day.

I don't feel like a different person exactly, but rather that I'm far more of my true self than I've ever been.

It’s hard to overstate how much happier I am.

—Tech Entrepreneur

The sessions opened my eyes to not seeing the world in the absolutes I was accustomed to, and instead to having more empathy and understanding of the people around me. I thought I “understood” everyone within my narrow vision, but in truth I only understood the parts of them that I could directly relate to and criticized the rest.

I truly can’t believe how much my conscious thought process changes by having my gut and my brain in sync instead of constantly fighting each other. I finally understand how regular people can just get things done without constant interference.

Interested in coaching that's customized for YOUR type of mind?

Here's How This Works:

I've put a lot of thought into the most logical, fair, and ethical way to price my services.

Conversations about money tend to bring out a lot of feelings (on both sides), and I want to approach that complexity with the nuance and care it deserves.

(If you're curious, I wrote a whole philosophical article where I break down in detail how I arrived at this set of policies.)

My Model:

  • Free sample session: no risk, no contract, real coaching

Let’s check if we’re the right fit for a fruitful ongoing relationship. This isn’t a sales call. I won’t pitch you some special 6-week program to change your life. I’ll give you actual coaching on a real challenge you’re facing.

  • Sliding scale: $97 - $297 USD per session

Same service at multiple price points based on need (honor system, no proof required). This allows me to offer lower-priced coaching to people who couldn't otherwise afford it. My peers with similar credentials typically charge $200 - $500 per session.

  • It’s not you vs. me — it’s us figuring it out as a team

You’re a unique, complex human. Not sure where you fall on my sliding scale? Let’s have an authentic conversation to figure out what’s fair to both of us. There's also a guide below on how to choose what to pay.

  • Flexible scheduling, typically 2-4 sessions per month

We can meet at a regular day/time or just find the next time that works for both of us. Cadence is up to you, and we can also adjust over time.

  • You're in charge — you're not locked into anything

Most coaches require signing up for package deals. But I highly value freedom, so I want you to feel empowered to pay just one session at a time and stop whenever you like.

What You Get By Working With Me:

  • A detailed questionnaire to help me know you and to help you dig deep and get crystal clear on your goals for coaching.
  • This isn't one-size-fits-all. I'll customize my coaching style based on your unique mind and life experiences, and I'll bring in techniques from whichever of my modalities would best serve you (Co-Active coaching, Hakomi counseling, Zen Buddhism, etc.).
  • You'll have access to me via email between sessions (e.g., if you'd like me to review your resume or answer a time-sensitive question). I might also share worksheets, articles, or podcasts that make me think of you.
  • Questions? Check out my FAQ below the pricing table. P.S. When considering a coach or therapist, I often find it valuable to hear what they sound like. You can get a sense of me from my YouTube channel.

My Sliding Scale:

Below are my rates for a 50-minute session. Many life situations aren't perfectly covered here, so please do your best to pick what feels closest to yours. (Also, this isn't a value judgment — just an attempt to find a fair exchange amidst complexity.)

Remember: You don't have to figure this out right now. The first sample session is free, and we can talk about it if you're not sure where you fall.

  • Standard Rate A: $297

You earn over $175K USD/year (or, you have substantial savings / passive income / other assets). Or, your company will be paying for this.

  • Standard Rate B: $197

You earn over $120K USD/year (or, you or your family owns property / other significant assets, or you regularly spend $200+ on non-necessities without needing to save up)

  • Reduced Rate: $147

    You earn under $120K USD/year

  • Special Rate: $97

You earn under $60K USD/year (and you have very little disposable income)

P.S. If paid coaching doesn't fit into your current financial situation, some of my no-cost offerings include my blog and my YouTube channel (which I update most frequently).

Not ready for coaching? Here's a 3-Video Path for INTPs Who Feel Stuck

If you only watch three of my videos, start with these, in this order (each builds on the last, from understanding the deeper problem, to making practical changes in your life):

  • The Key Misconception Stopping You from Overcoming Negative Thoughts
What most INTPs miss: The core misunderstanding underneath your self-doubt, overthinking, and second-guessing.

  • One of the most crucial life skills I’ve learned as an NTP: purposefully discarding thoughts
A precise, non-mystical skill for knowing when thoughts are useful (and when they’re just noise) so over-analyzing stops keeping you stuck.

  • Analytical Thinkers: Why Meditation Isn't Working for You & How to Fix It
Why common meditation advice often backfires for INTPs, and how to work with your analytical mind instead of trying to suppress it.

  • Watch those videos in order (most INTPs get the most value that way). And if those resonate, please consider subscribing to my channel.
